The U.S. Naval Observatory anticipates filling a vacancy in the near future for a GS-11 or GS-12 astronomer in its Software Products Division, which is part of the Astronomical Applications Department. The successful candidate will support and develop astronomical and navigational software for the military, such as NOVAS and MICA, along with the Departmental web site, which includes astronomical calculators. To do so, candidates must have experience with and enthusiasm for programming in C, C++, Fortran, Perl, and/or Python. Applicants must also be U.S. citizens and be able to obtain a secret clearance.
